Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 4800 block of Kansas Avenue, Northwest, on Sunday, July 30, 2017.
At approximately 2:00 am, members of the Fourth District responded to the area for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was discovered in the 4800 block of Kansas Avenue, Northwest, unconscious, but breathing. He was transported to an area hospital in grave condition. The second victim was discovered in the 4800 block of 5th Street, Northwest, unconscious and unresponsive. DC Fire and EMS found no signs consistent with life and pronounced him dead. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has not been identified.
