Homicide in the 3100 Block of Newton Street, NE

At approximately 4:39 pm on Thursday, June 1, 2006, officers from the Fifth District were called to the 3600 block of Eastern Avenue, NE, to investigate the report of an aggravated assault.  Upon arrival, officers located an adult male lying on the ground in the 3100 block of Newton Street, NE, suffering from an apparent stab wound to the upper torso. The victim was transported to the Washington Hospital Center's MedStar Unit where he was pronounced dead at 5:05 pm.

The victim in this case has been identified as 22-year-old Carrington Lewis Hooper of the 6900 block of Calvin Street in Fort Washington, Maryland.

This case is under investigation by members from the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099. 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
