Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in the 300 block of Anacostia Road, Northeast.
At approximately 3:06 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location after hearing the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located a juvenile male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. After finding no signs consistent with life, the victim was pronounced dead.
Additionally, officers located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds in the 3500 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast. They were both transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The decedent has been identified as 17-year-old Damoni Gaither, of Southeast, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
