Homicide on 295 South Bound Between Pennsylvania Avenue and Howard Road, SE

On Thursday, May 8, 2008, at approximately 12:26 am, police were called to Interstate 295 between Pennsylvania Avenue and Howard Road, SE, for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered a Toyota Camry with apparent multiple gunshot holes. After further investigation police located 26-year-old Mansoor Awan, of the 1900 block of Trenton Place, SE, inside of the vehicle suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives are looking at the possibility that the vehicle involved in this incident may have been fired upon near the Pennsylvania Avenue exit by a light colored or white vehicle.
