Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, June 24, 2018, in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast.
At approximately 4:20 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the report of a shooting at the listed location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life threating injuries. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced.
The decedent has been identified as 25 year-old Michael Jones, of District Heights, Maryland.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
