Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 2200 block of Mount View Place, Southeast, on Friday, December 23, 2016.
At approximately 9:32 pm, members of the Seventh District were responding to a report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds in the 2200 block of Mount View Place, Southeast. DC Fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and transported both victims to a local hospital for treatment. One victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The other victim remains in critical condition.
The decedent has been identified as 29-year-old Damien Keith Thomas of Northeast, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
