Homicide in the 200 Block of 51st Street, NE

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch is investigating the fatal shooting which occurred in the 200 block of 51st Street, NE.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>


On Monday, July 12, 2010, shortly after 9:00 am, units from the Sixth District responded to the 200 block of 51st Street, NE for the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival they located the victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and determined that the victim did not show any signs consistent with life.


The decedent was identified as 46 year-old Derrick Garrison of the 5200 block of Blaine Street, NE, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
