Homicide in the 1900 block of 13th Street, SE

A 58-year-old man was fatally shot.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the area of the 1900 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>13th Street, SE.


On Thursday, August 5, 2010, police discovered the victim of a shooting in the 4400 block of Benning Road, NE.  Preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred at approximately 3:25 am in the 1900 block of 13th Street SE.  Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital where he was admitted.


On Saturday, August 7, 2010 the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The decedent is identified as 58 year-old John Wesley Edwards Sr. of the 2400 block of Pomeroy Road, SE.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
