Homicide at 18th Street & Independence Avenue, SE

At approximately 3:30 pm, on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, police were called to the intersection of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>18th Street and Independence Avenue, SE, for the report of a man down.  Upon arrival, officers located 26-year-old Damien Anthony Turner, of the 3000 block of Gainesville Street, SE, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the face and arm.  DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but could find no signs consistent with life. He was subsequently taken to the DC Medical Examiner's Office and pronounced dead.

The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police (202) 727-9099.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
