Homicide in the 1400 Block of Irving Street, NW

At approximately 4 pm on Thursday, October 27, 2005, a DC Fire Department ambulance responded to the 1400 block of Irving Street, NW, for an injured person.  Upon arrival they located a 54-year-old male, of no fixed address, suffering from apparent trauma to his body.  He was taken to the Washington Hospital Center's MedStar Unit and admitted. On Wednesday, November 2, 2005, he died as a result of his injuries. On November 8, 2005, the Office of the DC Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide due to blunt force trauma.

The name of the decedent is being withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.


The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.


The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
