Homicide in the 1400 Block of First Street, NW

Tuesday, May 2, 2006

At approximately 8:44 last night, Monday, May 1, 2006, police were called to the 1400 block of First Street, NW, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located 35-year-old Marcus Eltavio Johnson, of the 1300 block of Fifth Street, NW, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body.  He was taken to the Howard University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:36 this morning.

The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.


The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
