At approximately 1:20 pm on Sunday, March 19, 2006, 42-year-old Domingo Reyes, of the 900 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Shepherd Street, NW, was reportedly carrying a pizza and other items in the 1300 block of Randolph Street, NW. It was at this time that he was approached by a lone male, armed with a handgun, who demanded the items. Mr. Reyes called for help and was joined by several other men who chased the suspect into the rear of the 1300 block of Randolph Street, NW. When Mr. Reyes confronted the suspect, he was shot in the head. The gunman made good his escape. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene but found no signs consistent with life. Mr. Reyes was taken to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.

The suspect in this case is described as a black male in his 20s, approximately 5'11" tall, with a medium complexion and black hair with braids. He was last seen wearing black pants and a black hooded sweat shirt.
The case is under investigation by members of the MPDC's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099. The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
