Homicide in the 1300 Block of First Street, SW

An 18-year-old male was fatally shot and another male victim was wounded.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are currently investigating a fatal shooting which occurred on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>First Street, SW.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>


At approximately 1:30 pm on Monday, October 12, 2009, members of the First District responded to the 1300 block of First Street, SW for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.  Both victims were transported to a local hospital where 18-year-old Chicquelo Abney of southwest DC succumbed to his injuries. The second victim remains hospitalized.  His identity is being withheld because he is considered a witness in this case.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Anonymous information may also be forwarded to DC Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by a caller to Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
