Homicide at 11th Street and Columbia Road, NW

A 24-year-old man was fatally shot.

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the fatal shooting that occurred at 11th and <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Columbia Road, NW. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

On Saturday, July 10, 2010, at approximately 8:31 pm, officers from the Third District were dispatched to 11th Street and Columbia Road, for the report of a shooting.  Upon their arrival, they located the victim in the 3000 block of 11th Street, NW, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital.  The victim later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

A second victim was also shot during the incident.  He was transported to an area hospital and released.

The decedent in this case has been identified as 24-year-old Jonathan Sanchez Estep of the 100 block of Taussig Place, NE.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
