Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1000 block of Mount Olivet Road, Northeast, on Thursday, January 25, 2018.
At approximately 3:10 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located a 16-year-old juvenile female, inside of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.
On Sunday, January 28, 2018, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 16-year-old Taiyania Thompson, of Northeast, DC.
Preliminary information suggests that this offense is potentially domestic in nature.
A vehicle of interest has been identified in this case. The vehicle is described as a 2017 white Kia Sorento SUV. The vehicle has a Maryland tag of 1DD2833 and may have front end damage. The vehicle can be seen in the photo below.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
