Handguns Recovered from DC Streets

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that five handguns have been taken off the streets of the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>District of Columbia.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

  • At approximately 4:35 pm, on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, members assigned to the Department’s Narcotics Special Investigations Division Recovery Unit were conducting an investigation at an apartment building located in the 2500 Pomeroy Road, SE.  As a result of the investigation, a semi-automatic handgun with several live rounds of ammunition was recovered.  There was no arrest reported in connection with this recovery.

  • At approximately 5:45 pm, on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, members assigned to the Department’s Narcotics Special Investigations Division Recovery Unit were conducting an investigation in the 2200 block of View Place, SE.  As a result of the investigation, a semi-automatic handgun with several live rounds of ammunition was recovered.  The suspect in this case was arrested and charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License.

  • At approximately 6:15 pm, on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, members assigned to the Department’s Seventh District conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Congress Street, SE.  As a result of the traffic stop, a semi-automatic handgun with several live rounds of ammunition was recovered.  The suspects in this case were arrested and charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License.

  • At approximately 7:00 pm, on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, members assigned to the Department’s Narcotics Special Investigations Division were conducting an investigation in the 4600 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE.  As a result of the investigation, a semi-automatic handgun with several live rounds of ammunition was recovered.  The suspect in this case was placed under arrest and charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License.

  • At approximately 9:50 pm, on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, members assigned to the Department’s Second District conducted a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Q Street, NW.  As a result of the traffic stop, a semi-automatic handgun with several live rounds of ammunition was recovered.  The suspects in this case were placed under arrest and charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License.
