On Friday, June 18, 2010, at approximately 10:20 PM, officers of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District were dispatched to the 800 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Yuma Street, Southeast, to investigate the report of a shooting. Once on the scene, officers found three people suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel also responded and transported the victims to area hospitals.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
Subsequently, one of the shooting victims succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 36 year old, Cornell K. Yates of the 10700 block of Bickford Avenue, Clinton, Maryland. The other two victims’ wounds are not life threatening and their identities are not being released because they are witnesses. This case is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
