Death Investigation in the 1300 Block of Fort Stevens Drive, NW

Police are investigating the death of 50-year-old Michael Curtis Magby as an apparent homicide.

The Violent Crimes Branch of the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found inside of an apartment building.

At approximately 10:44 am on Friday, February 1, 2008, officers from the Fourth District responded to an apartment building located in the 1300 block of Fort Stevens Drive, NW, for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival officers located an unconscious adult male in an apartment at that location with an apparent wound to his neck.  DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene but could find no signs consistent with life.

The decedent, who has been identified as 50-year-old Michael Curtis Magby, of the 1300 block of Fort Stevens Drive, NW, was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
