Attempted Robbery of Check Cash Store on 14th Street, NW

At approximately 8:50 am, on Monday, December 12, 2005, a subject wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun entered the Check Cash store located at 3606 14th Street, NW.  A store employee saw the gunman and ran into her office, locking the door behind her.  The gunman rushed against the door causing his gun to discharge.  There were no injuries, and the suspect fled after failing to gain entry to the office.

The suspect in this case is described as a black male in his 20s or 30s, 5'10" to 6' tall, 170 to 180 pounds.  He was wearing a ski mask, black jacket, tan/green jeans and armed with a handgun.


Anyone who has information about this case or who sees the suspect should take no direct action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or call the MPDC's Crime Solvers Unit at 1 (800) 673-2777.  All calls to Crime Solvers are confidential. If a caller provides information through Crime Solvers that leads to an arrest and indictment in this case, he or she will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
