The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the assistance of the public in attempting to identify a suspect wanted in connection with the critical stabbing of a man that occurred in the 1500 block of <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = U1 /?><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Pennsylvania Avenue, SE. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
Shortly before 6 pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, officers from the First District were called to the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, to investigate the report of an assault at that location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male lying on the ground at that location suffering from apparent multiple stab wounds. The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital by members from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department where he was admitted in critical condition. At this time he remains hospitalized.
The identity of the victim is being withheld due to the fact that he is considered to be a witness in this case.
A subsequent investigation into this case conducted by members from the Department’s First District and the Metro Transit Police Department determined that both the victim and the alleged suspect were apparently aboard a Metrobus prior to both exiting in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, where the offense took place.
The alleged suspect in this case is described as a black male, believed to be in his late 20’s to early 30’s and weighing between 260-280 pounds. He is further described as having a dark complexion with a short afro haircut. He was last observed wearing a grey jacket with a red and black hood and a white tee shirt.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $5,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect wanted in connection with this case.
Anonymous information may also be forwarded to DC Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by a caller to Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

It should also be noted that this actual offense did not occur onboard the Metrobus, but rather on public space in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.
