Arrests Made in the Homicide of Bernard Lewis

Two suspects have been charged with murder.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced that an arrest has been made in the fatal assault of a man that occurred in the 1500 block of S Street, SE, on August 30, 2010.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>


On Thursday, September 2, 2010, at 6:35 am, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 25 year old Timothy Shade and 19 year old Deshawn Johnson of Southeast, DC. Both subjects were arrested and charged with Murder II.


On Monday, August 30, 2010, at approximately 6:30 am, the victim of an assault was transported to an area hospital in an unconscious condition. It was subsequently determined that the decedent was suffering from blunt force trauma to the head. On Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at approximately 5:15 pm, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.


The decedent is identified as 31 year-old Bernard Lewis of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Suitland, MD.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
