Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in reference to multiple Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun) offenses that occurred throughout the Seventh District in February 2017.
700 block of Congress Street, Southeast
- On Thursday, February 16, 2017, at approximately 2:52 pm, the victim was standing alongside a vehicle at the listed location when a suspect displayed a handgun and opened fire towards the victim, striking the victim’s vehicle. No one was injured. CCN: 17-026-876
3600 block of 6th Street, Southeast
- On Friday, February 17, 2017, at approximately 6:43 pm, two victims were outside, at the listed location, when a suspect displayed a handgun and opened fire, striking the victims. The suspect fled in a vehicle. Both victims were taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. CCN: 17-027-584
900 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast
- On Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at approximately 9:58 am, two victims were at the listed location when a suspect displayed a handgun and opened fire, striking the victims. The victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment. CCN: 17-030-219
- On Tuesday, April 17, 2018, pursuant to a DC Superior Court indictment, members of the Fugitive Unit executed a booking order and transported 26 year-old Derek Turner, of Southeast, DC, to MPD Headquarters where he was charged with Assault with Intent to Kill in connection with the above cases.
