Arrest Made in Multiple Armed Robbery Offenses

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First and Sixth Districts announced an arrest has been made in reference to the following offenses:

  • Armed Robbery (Gun): On Friday, September 9, 2016, at approximately 4:50 am, in the 1100 block of 5th Street, Northeast. CCN: 16-152-378.
    • The victim, a transgender female, was in a vehicle with the suspect when the suspect eventually stopped the vehicle. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded her purse. After the suspect grabbed her purse, the victim exited the vehicle and the suspect drove away with her purse.

·         Armed Robbery (Gun): On Sunday, September 11, 2016, at approximately 4:30 am, at 11th and I Streets, Northeast. CCN: 16-153-791

  • The suspect approached the victim, a transgender female, in his vehicle and asked her if she needed a ride. She agreed. The suspect eventually stopped the vehicle and brandished a handgun. He demanded that she drop her purse and told her to exit the vehicle. The victim complied and the suspect drove away with her purse.

·         Armed Robbery (Gun): On Sunday, September 11, 2016, at approximately 3:15 pm, in the 500 block of 59th Street, Northeast. CCN: 16-153-988.

  • The victim agreed to buy an item from the “Offer-Up” application. As the victim was meeting with the suspect, the suspect brandished a handgun and demanded his property. The suspect fled with the victim’s cell phone.

On Tuesday, September 27, 2016, pursuant to DC Superior Court arrest warrants, 24-year-old Avery Kinney, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with three counts of Armed Robbery (Gun).
