Arrest Made in the Homicide of Stanley Dawson

A 26-year-old man has been charged with murder.

Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Detectives announced that an arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of Stanley Dawson, which occurred in the 3500 block of 19th Street, SE, on July 9, 2010.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>


On Thursday, July 22, 2010, at 11:30 pm, members of the Homicide Branch and the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 26-year-old Donell <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Washington from Southeast, DC pursuant to an arrest warrant charging him with Murder II while Armed.


On Friday, July 9, 2010, at approximately 12:18 am, members of the Seventh District responded to the 3500 block of 19th Street, SE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found two victims suffering from gunshots, one of whom was 19 year-old Stanley Dawson, of the 2300 block of Good Hope Road. Mr. Dawson was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted in extremely critical condition, succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead. The identity of the second victim is being withheld due to witness status.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
