Arrest Made in Homicide at the Intersection of Abbey Street and L Street, NE

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in the homicide which occurred at the intersection of Abbey Street and L Street, NE.

On Saturday, May 26, 2012, a victim was transported in a privately owned vehicle to a local hospital where he was admitted in critical condition suffering from a head injury.  On Monday, June 4, 2012, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.  On Tuesday, June 5, 2012, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiners performed an autopsy.  The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.  Further investigation revealed that the decedent had been involved in a fight at the intersection of Abbey Street and L Street, NE before he was transported to the hospital.

The decedent is identified as 25-year-old Dewayne Wills of Northeast, Washington, DC.

On Thursday, September 27, 2012, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 23-year-old Arvel Wills of Northwest, DC pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant charging him with Murder Two in connection with the homicide of Dewayne Wills.
