Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in a fatal shooting that occurred in the 800 block of Adrian Street, Southeast, on Thursday, December 28, 2017.
At approximately 7:21 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle on fire. Once the fire was extinguished, an unconscious and unresponsive adult female was discovered inside of the vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined there were no signs consistent with life. The decedent remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 23-year-old Kerrice Lewis, of Hyattsville, Maryland.
On Saturday, February 10, 2018, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 23 year-old Ashton Briscoe of Northeast, DC. He has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed.
This case remains under investigation.
