Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred in the 600 block of 14th Street, Northeast, on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.
At approximately 4:19 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for a report of an unconscious person inside of a residence. Upon arrival, members located an adult female suffering from multiple stab wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until she was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent was identified as 34-year-old Corrina Mehiel, of Burnsville, North Carolina.
On Monday, March 27, 2017, members of MPD’s Fifth District arrested 28-year-old El Hadji Alpha Madiou Toure, of no fixed address, as a fugitive from another jurisdiction for an outstanding warrant. He was subsequently transported to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with First Degree Murder while Armed and Theft One in the death of Corrina Mehiel.
