Arrest Made in Homicide in the 2900 block of Akron Place, SE

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Special Victims Unit have announced an arrest has been made in the homicide of an infant that occurred in the 2900 block of Akron Place, Southeast.

On Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at approximately 2:45 am, members from the Sixth District responded to a call for an unconscious infant in the 2900 block of Akron Place, Southeast.  Upon arrival, they located an unconscious male infant.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the infant to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  The infant’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy was performed.

The decedent has been identified as one-month-old Hakeem Brown of Southeast, Washington, DC.

On Friday, January 10, 2014, a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death to be a homicide.

On Sunday, January 19, 2014, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested  31-year-old Tisheena Brown of Southeast, Washington, DC pursuant to a DC Superior Court Arrest Warrant. She has been charged with First Degree Felony Murder in the death of Hakeem Brown.
