Arrest Made in Homicide of 13-Year-Old on Irvington Street, SW

At approximately 11:58 on the night of Wednesday, June 14, 2006, police were called to a courtyard of an apartment building located at 120 Irvington Street, SW, for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival they located 13-year-old Deangelo William Borras, of the 100 block of Irvington Street, SW, suffering from a gunshot wound to the body. He was taken to Children's Hospital and pronounced dead. Also located at that address was a 32-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was taken to an area hospital and admitted in stable condition. His name is being withheld because he is considered a witness in the case. The initial investigation indicated that the victims were approached by three subjects, at least two armed with handguns, who began firing before fleeing.

As part of the ongoing investigation, members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch obtained an arrest warrant charging Murder One While Armed for 16-year-old Demetrius Green, of the 500 block of Atlantic Street, SE.  At approximately 7:30 this morning, Tuesday, June 20, 2006, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (composed of members of the United States Marshal's Service and Metropolitan Police Department) arrested Demetrius Green, without incident, at a private residence in the 700 block of Atlantic Street, SE.  He is charged as an adult and is expected to be arraigned in DC Superior Court.

The investigation is continuing and additional arrest(s) are possible. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099. The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
