Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1000 block of Mount Olivet Road, Northeast, on Thursday, January 25, 2018.

At approximately 3:10 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located a 16-year-old juvenile female, inside of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.

On Sunday, January 28, 2018, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 16-year-old Taiyania Thompson, of Northeast, DC.

On Monday, January 29, 2018, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 18-year-old Dekale Bowman, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder.
