Arrest Made in Gordon Reaves Rivers Murder Case

A 17-year-old male has been charged with murder.

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that an arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of Gordon Reaves Rivers, which occurred on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Naylor Road, SE on January 10, 2010.  On the afternoon of Thursday, January 28, 2010, a 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with First Degree Felony Murder while Armed in connection with the death of Mr. Rivers.  The suspect’s identity is being withheld at this time because he is a juvenile.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>


On Sunday, January 10, 2010, at approximately 5:30 pm, officers assigned to the Sixth District responded to the 2600 block of Naylor Road, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying in the street in front of 2641 Naylor Rd., SE.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to the WashingtonHospitalCenter’s MedSTAR Unit where he was pronounced dead.  He was identified as 47-year-old Gordon Reaves Rivers of the 9700 block of Prince William Drive in Brandywine, Maryland.
