Arrest Made in Fatal Stabbing on Stanton Road, SE

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department have announced that an arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing of 36-year-old Steven Sledge that occurred on the evening of Wednesday, April 14, 2010, in the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE. As the result of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Homicide Branch and members from the Seventh District, a District resident identified as 31-year-old Dale Jamir Rhea was arrested earlier this morning, Thursday, April 15, 2010, by Homicide Detectives in Southeast Washington.  Mr. Rhea has been charged with Murder Two While Armed in the stabbing death of Steven Sledge. 

At approximately 9:29 pm on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, members from the Seventh District were called to the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE, to investigate the report of an assault at that location. Upon arrival, units discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim was transported by personnel from the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:10 pm.

The victim in this case was subsequently identified as 36-year-old Steven Sledge of the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE.
