Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced that an arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Hawaii Avenue, NE, on the evening of March 10, 2010. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
On Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at approximately 7:41 pm, Fourth District officers responded to the unit block of Hawaii Avenue, NE, for the report of a man down at that location. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported by personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim in this case has been identified as 26-year-old Shadawnchea Gardner whose last known address was in the 1700 block of Park Road, NW.
A subsequent investigation conducted by detectives from the Homicide Branch and members from the Fourth District has resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Marcus Silver of Northeast Washington. Mr. Silver is currently being charged with Murder One While Armed in the shooting death of Shadawnchea Gardner.
