Arrest Made in Deuante Ray Murder Case

A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder.

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced today that an arrest has been made in the homicide of 20-year-old Deuante Ray, who was found on October 30, 2009 lying in an alley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. On Monday, November 23, 2009, at approximately 2:35 pm, 19-year-old Emanuel Johnson, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with First Degree Felony Murder One While Armed pursuant to an arrest warrant in the murder of Deuante Ray. Mr. Johnson was arrested in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Temple Hills, Md. by members of the US Marshals Service and transported to the Homicide Branch. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

On Friday, October 30, 2009, at approximately 12:30 am, officers assigned to the Sixth District responded to the rear of the 1100 block of 48th Street for the sound of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they located an unconscious adult male lying in an alley and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the scene but were unable to find signs consistent with life.  The victim, who was identified as 20-year-old Deuante Ray of the 1100 block of 45th Street NE, was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.
