Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced that an arrest has been made in the murder of 36-year-old Carnell William Bolden who was found shot to death on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Park Drive, SE on December 31, 2009. On the afternoon of Thursday, February 18, 2010, this case was closed. The suspect, 47-year-old Paul Anthony Ashby of southeast, DC who was already incarcerated at the DC Jail on an unrelated charge, was transported to the Homicide Branch for processing pursuant to a booking order and a DC Superior Court arrest warrant charging him with First Degree Felony Murder while Armed in connection with the death of Mr. Bolden.

On Thursday, December 31, 2009, at approximately 2:13 pm, a member of the Sixth District on patrol observed what appeared to be a subject lying in a wooded area in the 3000 block of Park Drive, SE. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the subject lying on the ground was an unconscious adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the scene, but were unable to find any signs consistent with life.
The victim, identified as 36-year-old Carnell William Bolden, was pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.
