Arrest Made in 2008 Homicide in the 3200 Block of 6th Street, SE

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in a 2008 homicide which occurred in the 3200 block of 6th Street, SE.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2008, officers from the Seventh District were called to the 3200 block of 6th Street, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival they located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound lying on the sidewalk. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. 

The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Omar Finney of Southeast, Washington, DC.

On Tuesday, October 2, 2012, 20-year-old Christopher Holmes of Southeast, DC was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder in the shooting death of Omar Finney.
