Armed Carjacking on Kenilworth Avenue, NE

At approximately 6 pm, on Friday, December 9, 2005, a man was shot multiple times in the abdomen while at a gas station located in the 1300 block of Kenilworth Avenue, NE, during the course of an apparent armed carjacking. The victim, a 44-year-old male from Baltimore, Maryland, was transported to an area hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition. The name of the victim is being withheld at this time because he is a witness in this case.

A vehicle belonging to the victim was reportedly taken during the incident. That vehicle was subsequently recovered by police.


The suspects in this case are described only as two juvenile black males. The suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.  Anyone who may observe these individuals should take no direct action, but should instead contact police at 9-1-1 or (202) 727-9099.


The Metropolitan Police Department is now offering a reward of up to $5,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.  That reward increases to up to $10,000 for any robbery than involves a life-threatening injury to the victim.
