On Wednesday, February 14, 2023, at approximately 7:38 pm, Ms. Kimberly Stevens, Ms. Renee Bigelow, and Mr. Leon Melvin Harper were found shot to death in the 5000 block of Jay Street, NE.
On Friday, February 16, 2024, at approximately 1:27 pm, Mr. Leon Powell was found shot to death in the 4300 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SW. Mr. Powell had previously been reported missing in November 2023.
