Executive Office of the Chief of Police- Web Applications Unit, Office of the Chief Information Officer

Introduction: The Office of the Chief Technology Officer, Web Applications Development Unit is responsible for the development and maintenance of numerous department web applications.

Location: 300 Indiana Avenue NW, Suite 5009, Washington, DC 20001

Schedule: The office is open Monday through Friday; 8:00 A.M. through 5:00 P.M. 

Number of Citizen Volunteer Positions: One

Number of Intern Positions: Three

Program Description: This placement is open for individuals with an interest and aptitude in informational technology; available to qualified undergraduate and graduate level college and university students.  The intern will work closely with the Web Application Development team on projects and tasks. This Internship will allow a student to think about the transition from school to practice and to develop insights into the law enforcement informational technology profession that are rarely available in a conventional classroom setting. The MPD College Internship Program’s Informational Technology placement introduces students to aspects of law enforcement technology that enhance the student's understanding of the criminal justice system and the technology network that supports the agencies mission. 

Depending on the skills and interests the intern may be involved in development, research, project management, documentation, testing, or any other task as identified.

Previous course instruction or work experience is requested.  Although this unit works with most forms of technology and programming languages specific familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server or, C# is a plus.
