National Night Out - Calendar of Activities

National Night Out 2017 Logo

The National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from 9,500 communities from all 50 states, US territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. Below are activities scheduled in Washington, DC for Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

1D 4-8 pm Greenleaf Recreation Center, 201 N Street, SW

Citywide Kickoff!
Come out to meet city officials and enjoy food and refreshments and plenty to do for the whole family. The event will feature arts and crafts, face painting, a moon bounce, and a dance-off contest. Outreach tables about neighborhood and city services will also be on site to help you learn more about how to get involved in your community.

Join the Second District for our National Night Out. Festivities will include a game truck, moon bounce, 22ft slide, clowns, face painting, fingerprinting, and more! Food & refreshments will be served. Come out to have some fun and meet members of the Second District.

Do you have the basketball skills necessary to win the Third District's dunk contest. Find out on Tuesday, August 1. The first place winner gets a $200 gift card and second place winner will get a $100 gift card.

DC’s Got Talent
A main feature of this year's event will be the 2nd Annual Empowering Youth Talent Show for youth ages 8-18 who attend school and/or reside in Ward 4. The audition process is underway and youth are invited to submit video auditions. This event will be hosted by Guy Lambert of WPGC 95.5.

There will be city service vendors as well as food and fun.

Games of tug-of-war and flag football are the schedule for the Sixth Disstrict National Night Out event. The Park Service is providing a rock wall. There will be face painting, potato sack races, bubble stations, and various other sporting events for the youth. In addition, our partner agencies will have tables for giveaways and vendor information pertaining to local DC Government resources.

Bridge the gap between Community and MPD

Join our neighbors and friends on Tuesday, August 1st for the 34th Anniversary of National Night Out, America’s Night Out Against Crime. The Bald Eagle Community will host this year’s event starting at 6:00 pm. Come out to meet the men and women of the pub­lic safety agencies that work hard to make our neighborhoods safe and to meet and greet the residents and businesses that work with them to make a difference in our neighborhoods
