Victim of Shooting Pronounced Dead

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are reporting that a victim of a shooting on May 1, 2010 has died and that the case is now being investigated as a homicide.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>


On May 1, 2010 at approximately 10:35 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the 4700 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Jay Street NE for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and the victim was taken to an area hospital.  The victim remained in the hospital in critical condition.  On May 12, 2010 the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced.


The decedent is this case has been identified as 68-year-old Irvan Jackson of the 1100 block of Southview Drive, Oxon Hill, Maryland.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide in the District of Columbia.


Additionally, anonymous information may be forwarded to DC Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.  If information provided by a caller to Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to 1,000.
