At approximately 1:42 am on Sunday, August 19, 2007, 25-year-old Elliot G. Williams, of the 7800 block of 16th Street, NW, was walking east across 16th Street, NW, at Harvard Road, NW.  It was at this time that a Chevrolet Tahoe apparently traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>16th Street, NW struck Mr. Williams. The driver of the Tahoe failed to stop and fled the scene.

Mr. Williams was taken to the HowardUniversityHospital and pronounced dead.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white Chevrolet Tahoe SUV with unknown New York tags.  The vehicle has a rear cargo gate and tinted windows.
