On Sunday, September 9, 2007, at approximately 9:08 am, an unidentified white  male was reportedly operating a  bicycle westbound in the crosswalk on K Street, NW, when he was struck by a 1999 Honda Passport traveling southbound on 14th Street, NW.

The victim was taken to the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>GeorgeWashingtonUniversityHospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 am. The operator of the Honda, who has been identified as 18-year-old Carlos Javier Bayonne of the 1400 block of P Street, NW, was apparently uninjured in the accident.

At this time no charges have been placed in this case which remains under investigation by members from the department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit.
