Suspect Arrested in Homicide in the 100 Block of 36th Street, NE

Two others wounded in Saturday afternoon shooting

At approximately 3:52 pm, on Saturday, March 11, 2006, two men were shot, one in the back and the other in the abdomen, while seated in a car in the 100 block of 36th Street, NE.  A third man standing in the area received a gunshot wound to the hip.  The two men in the vehicle were driven to the Metropolitan Police Department?s Sixth District by a third individual, and were subsequently taken to area hospitals.  The man shot in the hip was also taken to an area hospital. 

 

The individual shot in the back, identified as 20-year-old Antonio Weaver, of the 4300 block of Gormon Terrace, SE, was taken to the Prince George?s Hospital Center and pronounced dead.  The names of the other wounded individuals are being withheld because they are considered witnesses.

At approximately 1:30 am, on Sunday, March 12, 2006, police charged 28-year-old Melvin A. Reid, of the unit block of Burns Street, NE, with Murder Two While Armed in connection with this shooting.
