Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred at I-295 southbound. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
On Sunday, May 8, 2011, at approximately, 5:10 am, the driver of a Chevy Blazer was traveling southbound on I-295 in the right hand lane. The operator of the Chevy Blazer struck a pedestrian near the East Capitol Street exit. The pedestrian was walking in the middle of the interstate. The driver of the striking vehicle did remain on the scene. Personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim had no signs consistent with life. The decedent was later pronounced dead and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.
The decedent was identified as 25-year-old Brian Lee of Southeast, DC.
