On Thursday, October 17, 2007, members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Branch arrested Devone Foote, of the 1200 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>North Capitol Street, NW, in connection with the May shooting death of Harold Crawley. Foote, 25, was charged with first degree murder while armed.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

On Friday, May 18, 2007, at approximately 4:40 pm, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of First Street, SW. Upon arrival, police found 23-year-old Crawley, of the 1400 block of Half Street, SW, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the WashingtonHospitalCenter’s MedStar Unit where he was pronounced dead.
