At approximately 8:33 on the morning of Saturday, January 6, 2007, police were called to a 7-11 Store, located at Blair Road and Carroll Avenue, NW, for the report of a shoplifter.  Upon arrival they arrested 43-year-old Preston Randolph Logan of the 3900 block of Kansas Avenue, NW.

During the course of the arrest, officers developed information that led them and members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch to an apartment where Mr. Randolph resided.  Upon entering they located the body of 42-year-old  Grafton Lee Person, of the 3900 block of Kansas Avenue, NW, suffering from apparent blunt force trauma.  There were no signs consistent with life and he was taken to the Office of the DC Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.

The case was closed with the arrest of Preston Randolph Logan who was charged with First Degree Murder.
