On Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at approximately 10:15 am, Jovani Jefferson was shot at the corner of 51st and Call Place, SE and later died. When the shooting occurred, a 6-year-old female was hit by a stray bullet while she was walking with her family.

At approximately 4:20 pm, on Monday, November 24, 2003, Metropolitan Police where called to the 1400 block of Rock Creek Ford Road, NW for the report of an unconscious person. Once on the scene officers located 52-year-old Wayne Leon Walker, of the 1400 block of Rock Creek Ford Road, NW.
