Traffic Fatality at Wisconsin Avenue and Jenifer Street, NW

At approximately 10:59 pm, on Thursday, June 8, 2006, 64-year-old Emily S. Fenichel, of the 5900 block of Ingomar Street, NW, was walking eastbound across Wisconsin Avenue, NW, at Jenifer Street, NW. It was at this time she was struck by a Metrobus traveling east on Jenifer Street, making a right turn to travel south on Wisconsin Avenue.

Ms. Fenichel was taken to the Washington Hospital Center's MedStar Unit and pronounced dead at 11:50 pm. The operator of the bus was 36-year-old Michelle Ferguson, of the 4000 block of Livingston Road, SE.

The case remains under investigation by members of the MPDC's Major Crash Investigations Unit. This was the 22nd traffic fatality of 2006 in the District of Columbia, the ninth pedestrian to be killed.
