Shortly after 3 am, on Thursday, December 8, 2005, a 1999 Mercury Villager minivan occupied by four adult males was reportedly traveling northbound in the 2700 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. It was at this time that the minivan collided with a 2001 Chrysler Sebring traveling westbound, operated by 25-year-old Porsche Harrison, of the 3800 block of V Street, SE, at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Fairmont Street, NW. The van then struck a parked car before overturning.

Three of the occupants of the minivan were taken to area hospitals with apparent non-life threatening injuries. They are identified as 26-year-old Charles Dixon, of the 1500 block of Madison Street in Hyattsville, Maryland; 23-year-old Adrian Bruce, of the 3300 block of Park Place, NW, and 21-year-old Michael Young, of the 600 block of Harvard Street, NW. A fourth occupant in the van, identified as 23-year-old Theodore Jackson, of the 800 block 6th Street, NE, was taken to the Washington Hospital Center's MedStar Unit and pronounced dead. The driver of the Chrysler did not require treatment. A handgun was recovered from the minivan.
A preliminary investigation by members from the Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Investigations Unit indicates that speed and other possible factors on the part of the minivan driver may have contributed to this crash. However, no charges have been placed at this time pending positively identifying the driver and the completion of the investigation.
